MTN Mobile Money: How to Register



I posted on this page an Introduction to MTN Mobile Money and I feel this post is also neccessary in other to better enjoy the service.

Check the following before Starting
    packages
  1. That your SIM card is compatible for the service and ensures you have received your account registration details from MTN.
  2. To check if your SIM is compatible, go to Main menuèMTN Serviceè MobileMoney, to locate the MobileMoney icon.
  3. You will see “MM Dealer” icon under MTN services once your account is fully set up.
  4. You may call MobileMoney customer care on 118, if your account registration has been completed and “MM Dealer” menu is not displayed on your SIM menu under MTN services.

PIN SELECTION
After you or your company has been registered on the system, you will be required to take the following steps to complete your registration:
  1. On your phone menu, go to MTN service
  2. Click on ‘’MM Dealer’’ èManage AccountèSelect Account PIN
  3. Select the ID type you supplied during registration i.e Drivers license, International passport, National ID or other i.e your personal MTN registered phone number supplied during MobileMoney application.
  4. Enter the ID number you supplied during MobileMoney registration.
  5. Select a four digit PIN and repeat the PIN
  6. You will receive a message on your phone confirming your registration.

MobileMoney Customer Registration
There are two ways of registering customers:
  1. USSD using existing SIM. Customer simply dial *500# and follow the instructions thereafter.
  2. STK: This may require you to do SIM swap for customer if his SIM does not have the MobileMoney icon. You may also sell a new MTN line to the customer if he chooses to buy a new MTN line for MobileMoney.
SIM swap:
  1. Tell customer to fill SIM swap form.
  2. Back up customers’ SIM contacts using SIM copier.
  3. Type swap#Old number#SIM Serial Number#PUK#Alternative number in an SMS and send to destination 263 e.g Swap#08032008840#89234010000111468881#12345678#08031542010,
  4. Inform customer to approve swap by sending the system generated serial number to 263  within 24 hours otherwise the serial number becomes invalid and the swap will need to be re- initiated e.g Swap#268196471598064595 to 263
Both you and the will receive a confirmation message that the swap has been processed.
  1. Customer should insert the welcome back SIM into his handsets once there is a loss of network on his phone.
  2. Restore customer’s contact into the new SIM
  3. Inform customer to type “Yes” in a text message and send to 500 to complete MobileMoney registration
